Does coloured concrete fade over time?

Some gradual fading is genuinely normal over many years, mostly from sustained UV exposure — but well-made coloured concrete, properly sealed, holds its colour reasonably well over a typical driveway or patio’s lifespan.

Sealing is the single biggest factor here — an unsealed or poorly maintained coloured surface fades noticeably faster than one with a properly maintained sealer, since the sealer itself is what’s primarily protecting the surface pigment from UV and weathering.

Darker colours can show fading more visibly than lighter or more neutral tones simply because the contrast against a faded state is more noticeable — worth factoring in if long-term colour consistency matters to you.
