House Slabs
Does a house slab need to be level with the street?
Not necessarily level, but your slab’s finished floor level does need a genuine, calculated relationship to the street — usually somewhat higher, to ensure water drains away from your home rather than pooling toward it.
This relationship is calculated as part of your site’s design, factoring in drainage, driveway grade, and accessibility, rather than an arbitrary height chosen independently of these practical considerations.
Council may also have specific requirements around this relationship, particularly for driveway grade and stormwater connection — another genuine reason this figure is properly calculated, not assumed.
