Waffle Slabs

Does a waffle slab's void need ventilation?

Genuinely, no — unlike a suspended timber floor with an open subfloor cavity, a waffle slab’s void is fully enclosed within the concrete itself, so it doesn’t need ventilation the same way.

Moisture management here is handled through the vapour barrier and site drainage instead, rather than airflow through the structure.
