Does a house slab need different waterproofing near a wet area like a bathroom?

The slab’s own vapour barrier is genuinely consistent across the whole footprint, but wet areas like bathrooms need their own additional waterproofing membrane applied later, over the finished slab, as a separate compliance requirement.

This later waterproofing stage is coordinated by your builder or waterproofer once the slab’s complete, not something built into the slab pour itself.
