Excavation
Can excavated material be tested before it's removed from site?
Yes, and on some sites it’s genuinely required — soil testing before removal confirms whether the material is genuinely clean fill or needs to be classified and disposed of as contaminated waste, which changes where it can legally go.
This is particularly relevant on sites with a known history of prior use (industrial, commercial, older fill) where contamination is a genuine possibility worth ruling out early rather than discovering at the tip.
