What's a reasonable way to raise a concern with my contractor mid-project?

Raising it directly and early with your contractor or site supervisor is genuinely the most effective first step — most concerns are easier to resolve while work is still in progress than after a stage is finished and covered over.

Putting it in writing (a follow-up text or email after a phone conversation) genuinely helps too, giving both sides a clear record of what was raised and agreed, without needing to escalate anywhere formally in most cases.
