Estimating Strip Footing Concrete
A strip footing is a continuous concrete footing that runs beneath load-bearing walls, spreading the wall load evenly along its length. This calculator works out the concrete volume using length (m) × width (m) × depth (m), with your width and depth entered in millimetres and converted automatically.
You can choose a 5 per cent or 10 per cent waste allowance depending on how much variation you expect on site — 10 per cent is a sensible allowance for irregular trenches or where over-excavation is likely. The calculator also converts your recommended order volume into 6 m³ truck loads, which is the standard agitator size for most residential deliveries, so you know roughly how many loads to schedule.

Most residential concrete agitator trucks carry around 6 cubic metres per load, which is why this calculator rounds your total up to the nearest whole truck load.
What footing width and depth do I need?
This is specified by your structural engineer based on the loads your walls carry and your soil classification. Typical residential strip footings range from 300 mm to 450 mm wide and 300 mm to 600 mm deep, but always confirm from your engineering drawings.
