Before the Crew Arrives
- Utility locating — underground services (power, gas, water, telecommunications) need to be located and marked before any digging starts. We arrange this as part of planning your job.
- Site access check — we confirm truck and excavator access, including anything that might need to be moved (vehicles, fencing sections, garden features) before the day.
- Clear communication on scope — you’ll know beforehand what’s being cut, to what depth, and roughly how much material is expected to come out.
On the Day
- Site set-up — equipment arrives and access routes are confirmed on site.
- Excavation — our excavators cut and remove material to the depths specified in your plans or engineering documents.
- Loading and haulage — excavated material (soil, clay, rock, or a mix) is loaded onto tipper trucks and removed for disposal at an approved facility.
- Grading and compaction — once the target depth is reached, the base is graded and compacted ready for the next stage of construction, whether that’s a slab, driveway or retaining wall.
- Site clean-up — access routes are cleared and the site is left tidy and ready for the following trade.
What Can Affect the Timeline
Ground conditions are the biggest variable — rock or unexpectedly wet conditions can slow progress compared to straightforward soil. Weather also plays a role, since heavy rain can make a site temporarily inaccessible for trucks.
